Frank is thrilled to once again wrestle with the playwright who has influenced so much of our work, Bertolt Brecht. With THE GOOD PERSON OF SETZUAN, Frank enlists the same fabulous design team that created the stunning environment for THE ARSONISTS last winter (Joseph Stanley, Kathy Kohl, Mike Wangen, and Dan Dukich) to create the world of the play in the vacant Rainbow Food site on East Lake St and 27th Ave S.; performances run Oct 28-Nov. 20. Brecht’s parable focuses on the quest of three gods who come to earth in search of one good person. They succeed in finding a prostitute who finds her economic reality challenges her ability to remain good. With a fabulous cast including Emily Grodzik, Patrick Bailey, John Middleton, Katherine Ferrand, Janis Hardy and thousands more.
In March, look for the area premiere of CITIZEN: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine, which was published by Greywolf Press in 2014 and immediately took the literary world by storm, winning numerous awards. A searing representation of the current American zeitgeist, CITIZEN is a boundary-bending work of poetry/prose/criticism, adapted for the stage by Stephen Sachs. A 6-member “ensemble piece…floats between dream and reality, narration and performance, and challenges its audience’s perceptions,” as it examines the ways racism pervades daily life in America, from highly visible news accounts to the daily microaggressions that render certain citizens invisible in our culture. CITIZEN will be performed at Intermedia Arts March 10-April 2, 2017.
We look forward to seeing you!
